Letters, 1862 Sept. 13 and 1863 Feb. 24, from Fullam, on board the C.S.A. Alabama, to his parents. In both letters are described his activities on the ship during the Civil War. The first letter describes the accidental shooting death of third assistant officer Cummings, and the boarding and capturing of a prize, the Sea Bride. The latter letter, a fragment, confirms the Alabama is still afloat and burning U.S. ships, and details part of a sea battle in the Gulf of Mexico near Galveston, Tex., in 1863, about the end of Jan.
